Animals are living things. They have something in common with plants. Like plants, animals need food and water to live. However, plants and animals are different. For example, plants make their own food. Unlike them, animals have to feed themselves by eating plants or other animals.
Animals can also sense what goes on around them. Their bodies allow them to move in reaction to what is going on around them. They use their senses and movement to find food, mates, and safety. Many different kinds of animals live on Earth. They can live on land or underwater, they can be wild or domestic.
Some of them can be very small, but some animals are really big. Each animal has its own features and habits. People study it as well as the behaviour of animals.
